Position is responsible for various risk control activities in the Risk Control Group, supporting NRG.  It requires a combined expertise in the financial aspects needed to understand risk measurement of financial instruments, plus knowledge of the systems used to measure the risk of a complex portfolio; the daily capture and verification of trades into the appropriate systems.  



Education:  Bachelor's degree is required.    Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - High degree of computer literacy. Experience with ZaiNet, Access, VBA, SQL, and Excel is preferred. - Working knowledge of financial and physical energy trading markets. - Ability to plan/manage multiple priorities and committed to meet demanding deadlines in a demanding environment and work overtime when required.  Works well in a team environment. - Attention to detail and critical thinking skills.  - Adapts effectively to new and changing environments. - Proficient in effectively communicating to a wide range of audicences in both written and oral form.   



Identify and communicate all discrepancies concerning transaction confirmations to Commercial Operations. Track discrepancies until resolved. - Make recommendations for system/process enhancements to improve performance in the Risk Control area and test system changes. -  Evaluate exception requests and risk-related contractual issues. - Perform ad-hoc analysis related to risk issues in the residential, business services. - Collaborate effectively with Commercial, Legal, IT, and Operations teams to evaluate requests in a timely manner. -  Leverage problem solving, data manipulation, and analytical skills to address specific business requests.  - Work closely with traders, risk analysts and senior management to analyze, value and provide risk analysis around complex transactions and portfolio positions, including power generation, load contracts, complex derivatives, hedging strategies and trading assets. - Monitor adherence to the risk policy, assist in investigation of any issues, and update any policy and/or product revisions. - Perform regular monitoring and maintenance of Risk system access control processes. - Partner with other business units and/or departments to identify and facilitate business process improvements. - Assist with special projects as needed.
