Summary:

This individual will be responsible to provide primary support for NRG's corporate supply chain, procurement and materials management applications. He/she will have the necessary skills to work with cross departmental teams to solve complex requirements while maintaining systems integrity. The IT business analyst will support or coordinate various projects and perform day to day system maintenance tasks. He/she will have the ability to work with cross departmental teams in problem solving dialogue. Excellent analytical skills and strong business functional background is essential to the role. Basic functional SAP expertise or Business Administration knowledge is required to fill the position. The ideal candidate came from an IT or business background or recently completed a master's degree in business administration and has strong interest in becoming an IT professional. Experience or prior training in SAP ECC 6.0 system design and configuration is an advantage.

Responsibilities:

Essential Duties:

- Daily SAP application support in the supply chain area (SAP - MM module)
- Work with business to develop concepts into proposals.
- Facilitate requirements gathering efforts and clearly document system requirements.
- Support the evaluation of available alternatives and the decision making process. May include software selection efforts, architectural design reviews, etc.
- Support the development of prototypes/proofs of concept to validate key project assumptions prior to making significant investments.
- Documentation of functional and technical design specifications.
- Documentation and execution of comprehensive unit, integration, and system test scripts.
- Capturing issues identified in testing and ensure their resolution prior to implementation.
- Ensure the successful transition from development to operations including operations procedures and tools such as process control points, reports, and automated monitoring.
- Regularly report status and raise issues/risks as appropriate. Anticipate and adjust for problems and roadblocks while eliminating roadblocks within control.
- Develop strong working relationships with individuals at all levels of company, operations, and IT applications and infrastructure teams.
- Be the communication path from business users to IT and develop improved communication between IT and business functions.
- Participate in discussions with business stakeholders and IT to drive strategy and identify opportunities to improve and enhance NRG's systems.
- Participate in definition of projects and provide project management in support of defined strategy.
- Identify new opportunities for improvement in business operations.
- Participate in due diligence and business case development efforts.

Technical SAP Systems Support

- Design, develop, and support complex SAP supply chain applications.

- Develop expertise with SAP materials management and procurement processes
- Develop a good understanding of the related master data objects
- Develop knowledge of the various integration points with other SAP core functions such as finance, controlling, human resources, plant maintenance
- Develop expertise with designing and delivering most of the relevant supply chain processes
- Build strong knowledge of the various mass data load and maintenance tools
- Gain experience with systems integration with external systems via various interfacing solutions
- Learn to identify and challenge the associated risks when evaluating potential solutions to existing or new challenges
- Must have strong interest learning of the SAP configuration, development processes
- Must have the ability to analyze various systems issues and defects

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university (Computer Science, MIS, or Engineering preferred). Advanced technical degree or MBA will be considered in lieu of work experience.

Required Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

- Minimum of 1 to 2 years of total SAP implementation and support expertise OR
- MBA degree from an accredited university in lieu of actual work experience
- General knowledge of the supply chain business process
- Knowledge of SAP procure to pay functionality
- Understanding of business concepts in financial accounting, controlling and human resource management
- Working knowledge of the various SAP development tools and methodologies is an advantage
- Experience with various application development or programming language is an advantage
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required in order to provide appropriate cross functional support and interaction.
- Ability to focus on multiple efforts simultaneously,
- Ability to prioritize workload,
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem resolution skills required,
- Detail oriented, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills,
- Ability to work well under pressure, remaining focused and calm in the face of distractions, changing priorities in a fast-paced environment,
- Ability to productively use most commonly used documentation toolset - MS Office Applications, MS Outlook, MS Project, Visio, and Internet Explorer.

Physical Requirements:

- Must be willing to travel when needed.
- Duties are performed during standard business hours and overtime based on project requirements.
- Valid driver's license and the ability to attend meetings and respond to application problems at various corporate sites when necessary, including plant locations.

Working Conditions

- Professional office environment.
- Team work environment in cube or open work area.
- Willingness to work overtime hours as necessary, especially during critical issue resolution and to achieve project milestones.
