The Station A group is NRG's innovation and new technology team leading the company to a clean and distributed energy future. Station A is a talented group of engineers, computational scientists, and business strategists that engineer and integrate clean Distributed Energy Resource ("DER") solutions, develop new software analytics tools, and test new offerings through pilot projects. The strength and diversity of the NRG platform and Station A offerings and tools are the foundation of a successful, scalable DER strategy. NRG has already won 200MW of DER contracts in Southern California, and we are eager to build upon this young line of business.

Responsibilities:

As a product engineering extern, you will work on a small, diverse team to support the ongoing development of Station A's growing suite of software and hardware products. Possible projects you could work on, depending on your interest and relevant skills, include:

* Machine-learning-based dispatch algorithm development for distributed energy resources in Python
* Application engineering leveraging Station A's suite of tools and products to support specific project development
* Front-end development for dashboards that display possible distributed energy solutions for a customer, using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
* Due diligence on emerging technologies, including data analysis from pilots
* Project setup & management for emerging technology pilots

Successful candidates should have a demonstrated passion for clean energy, an entrepreneurial spirit, and both physical engineering and software engineering talent

Transportation: Extern should largely be able to depend on public transportation during the course of externship.

Requirements: Must currently be a student in college in a Bachelors or Master's level program.

Preferred Courses: 1 - Civil and Environmental Engineering, 2 - Mechanical Engineering, 3 - Material Science, 6 - Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, 8 - Physics, 11 - Urban Planning, 18 - Math
