Job Description Novo Nordisk in West Lebanon, NH has an immediate opening for an Environmental Health and Safety Associate to join our team! This position has the primary responsibility of providing day-to-day support of EHS activities, performing compliance inspections, and management of all EHS related contractors.


* Reports to: Site Services Supervisor
* Dotted line to EHS specialist and works closely with all manufacturing and manufacturing support teams.

Main Job Tasks:

* Primary responsibility for performing compliance inspections (RCRA accumulation areas, waste treatment/Limited Permit, etc.). The role also performs o provides the primary audit function to ensure inspection/testing is adequately performed by other teams on site (SPCC inspections, safety shower/eye wash testing, etc.).
* Support evaluation of new equipment, raw materials, and processes for environmental, health, and safety risks.
* Support evaluation of employee exposures to chemical and physical agents in the workplace and support corrective actions.
* Conduct incident investigations, safety audits, and other facility inspections.
* Collect, analyze, and prepare data for management/ environmental reporting at the direction of supervisor
* Manage environmental, health and safety information for all chemicals used at the facility.
* Support continuous improvement of EHS programs, management systems, and compliance documentation.
* Facilitate collection, labeling, storage, and shipment of hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams under the direction of an onsite EHS professional.
* Able to maintain First Aid/CPR, RCRA, DOT, HAZWOPER and other role specific training and certification.
* Desire and ability to obtain CSP or equivalent certification within five to seven years.
* Primary point of contact and responsible for administration of all EHS service contracts (fire alarm maintenance, fire extinguisher maintenance, sprinkler maintenance, waste hauling, etc.)
* Support EHS permit program and issue permits as directed by supervisor (fire alarm impairment, hot work, confined space, energized work, etc.)
* Must be available on call as required.
* Other duties as directed by supervisor.
* Performs all job duties and responsibilities in a compliant and ethical manner and in accordance with all applicable healthcare laws, regulations and industry codes.

Physical Requirements:

* Ability to lift 35 pounds.
* Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and access potentially awkward or difficult locations.
* Travel: up to 5%

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

* Associates' degree (or equivalent) in a technical field (biology, chemistry, environmental science, engineering) or three years of experience in a manufacturing, healthcare or laboratory environment. Bachelor's degree preferred.
* Strong communication and time management skills. The individual must have a demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
* Demonstrated ability to learn quickly and apply new skills accurately.
* Strong personal integrity and compliance focus.
* Knowledge of computer applications including word processing and spread sheets.
* Working understanding of chemistry to understand SDS/MSDS and generate waste profiles.
* Understanding of cGMP requirements preferred.
* Prior waste handling experience with RCRA and DOT certification preferred.
