The Tax/Insurance team at Novartis has an exciting Internship opportunity.

This tax intern position involves assisting multiple members in the Tax and Insurance group in areas of federal and state income tax compliance and reporting as well as an introduction to tax accounting and tax research. Specific duties: responding to state notices, audit support, assisting in M&E calculation, tax return workpapers, inputting information into tax software, special projects.

Objectives and Key Deliverables:

The successful candidate will have as his or her main objective to gain an understanding of what it is like to work in a best in class US tax department. The candidate will be provided a broad exposure to the insurance function and tax function, with an emphasis on federal and state reporting and compliance. He or she will also gain some valuable tax experience and work opportunities in the following areas:

* Federal income tax compliance and provision and respective book to tax difference workpapers
* State income tax apportionment and state income tax compliance
* Federal and state income tax research
* Working with highly experienced tax accountants, tax attorneys and insurance professionals
* Working with best in class software applications such as Thomson Reuters OneSource Income Tax, OneSource Tax Provision and Checkpoint
* Good oral and written communication skills
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
* College Undergraduate

Preferred Competencies/Experiences:

PROFICIENT in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
