Job Description

Responsibilities will initially be assigned based on experience but will grow in relation to the individuals progress in professional knowledge.

As a Junior Electrical Designer, you will work as part of a multi-discipline engineering and design team on heavy industrial projects. You will be responsible for designing the power and control systems for these facilities.

* Work with the senior electrical designer and/or the electrical engineer to develop one-line diagrams, grounding plans, area classification plans, control panel layout, PLC & DCS wiring diagrams, medium (15kV-600 V) and low (600V and below) voltage motor schematics, cable tray & conduit routing plans, duct bank plans and cable schedules.
* Assist the senior electrical designer with:
* Development of the preliminary design concepts from engineers and project managers into complete, functional systems.
* Sizing wire, cable tray, conduit and over-current protection devices.
* Drafting project drawings in accordance with client standards and industry best practices.
* Utilizing electrical engineering documents including cable and conduit schedules, I/O lists,, electrical load lists and client drawing specifications.
* Coordinating with mechanical, civil and structural drawings to find and mitigate interferences with the electrical drawings.
* Travel will comprise 10% to 25% for site investigations, design reviews and construction inspection and coordination.

Position requirements are as follows:

* Experience with drafting and design on industrial projects is a plus; however, it is not necessary.
* Any working knowledge of current industry codes and standards (NEC, NEMA, ANSI, NESC, and NFPA is a plus.
* Ability to work within a multi-discipline team of engineers and designers to meet customer objectives
* Familiarity with Autodesk software programs such as AutoCAD, AutoCAD MEP, AutoCAD Electrical and Navisworks.
* AA degree or equivalent level of knowledge acquired through vocation or technical school training.
* Good written and oral communication skills
* Computer skills need to include the MS Office Suite
