Job Description

Northrop Grumman is seeking an entry level Software Engineer 1 to join our Mission Systems sector. This position will be located in Colorado Springs, CO.

We are seeking a recent college graduate, regardless of age, as a Software Engineer to work on maintenance, integration, and development of operationally deployed database driven web systems and special data processing systems. Participate in system design, debugging, develop code, update GUIs and integrate mods/enhancements into baseline. Interaction with users, customers, and other developers is expected. Candidate must be able to work effectively on a small team. This is a great opportunity for a flexible self-starter to work in a dynamic environment with real world technical content supporting a number of tools and systems.

Tasks:

Specific responsibilities may include:

- Participate in identifying, defining, delineating and tracking system requirements
- Participate in software design and development
- Participate in the integration and test of various software and hardware components to ensure compatibility and performance
- Participate in unit, component, sub-system and system test to confirm and demonstrate software performance and capability
- Provide operations and maintenance support
- Respond to quick turn special tasking
- Interface with Northrop Grumman and government customers to discuss project technical issues
- Gain practical experience in a disciplined, high performance engineering program
- Gain an appreciation for executing and managing a leading edge government contract to deliver a high quality product on time and within budget
- Other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications:

- Must be a recent graduate or an active student pursuing a Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics, with 0-1 years of work related experience
- Experience with modern software languages (Java, C/C , etc.)
- Must understand all phases of software development
- Must have knowledge in object-oriented software development methodologies
- Good communication skills - oral and written
- Organization skills to prioritize assigned work and meet deadlines
- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve complex technical issues
- Must be a US citizen able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in any of the following areas is desired:

- Database administration or development (Oracle, SQL)
- Experience with VMWare and virtualization
- Experience with networking and system administration
- Strong background in math and physics, knowledge/experience in several of the following: GPU Programming, CUDA, Open CL, Java, MySQL, modeling and simulation, or parallel computing
- Familiarity with Linux and/or Unix based development
