Job Description

* Ensures compliance with the Kalispel Tribe of Indians-State of Washington Gaming Compact, Internal Controls, NIGC Regulations and Northern Quest Resort and Casino and Kalispel Casino Policies and Procedures.
* Oversees the daily activities of the accounting department for Northern Quest Resort and Casino and Kalispel Casino.
* Responsible for meeting month end close deadlines.
* Provides information to internal and external auditors.
* Participates in formulating and administering casino policies and developing immediate, short- and long-term goals and objectives for the accounting department.
* Performs analysis on balance sheet and income statement accounts.
* Monitors and adjusts accounting department staffing levels.
* Reviews and approve general ledger journal entries prepared by his or her staff for accuracy and ensure accordance with GAAP as well as Northern Quest Resort and Casino's and Kalispel Casino's accounting policies and procedures.
* Reviews the accuracy of account reconciliations.
* Creates, implements and assesses training programs for the accounting team.
* Conducts meetings of subordinate personnel, or confers with subordinate personnel, to discuss operational problems or explain procedural changes or practices.
* Assist the Controller in the development of policies and procedures and performs annual analysis of control procedures to ensure compliance with Tribal, State, Federal and NIGC regulations and ensure an adequate internal control system is in place.
* Learns, comprehends and complies with all casino policies and procedures, Minimum Internal Control Standards, Gaming Regulations and Title 31 requirements.
* Attends Director and special project meetings. Provides input relating to the impact of proposed changes on the accounting department and communicates property wide information to staff.
* Supports organizational change efforts designed to crease a corporate culture that supports the business plan and mission.
* Analyzes operational issues impacting functional groups as well as the whole organization and determines financial impact.
* Supports the Controller in preparation of the annual operating budgets/forecasts and capital budgets of the Resort and Casinos.
* Assists in developing and administering the company's strategic business plan, primarily long-rage financial and operational planning.
* Analyzes, consolidates and directs all cost accounting procedures together with other statistical and routine reports.
* Monitors the Casinos' bankrolls.
* Studies work flow to determine expediency of installing new or improved equipments and/or procedures.
* Ensures all work areas are organized and clean.
* Ensures control/protection of assets.
* Oversees the disposal of surplus inventory and equipment.
* May be required to be a panelist for internal review boards.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises the staff of the accounting department and is responsible for the overall direction under the guidance of the Controller, coordination, and evaluation of these areas. Carries out supervisory responsibility in accordance with the enterprise's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education, Experience & Other Requirements

* Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Accounting or related area from four-year College or University.
* CPA certification preferred, but not required
* Four years' experience managing an accounting department of four or more employees required
* Resort and Casino or Hospitality industry experience preferred
* Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Gaming License and a Class III Gaming License.
* Valid driver's license (Must be in possession while operating a Tribal Vehicle).
