Job Description

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Performance Improvement Specialist, the Home Health Coder is responsible for coding using ICD-10 diagnoses. The position is also responsible for maintaining clinical databases through coding and abstracting of medical records for billing and data collection purposes.

EXPERIENCE: Two to three years Home Health coding experience required. Proficient knowledge of OASIS preferred; Working knowledge of CMS Condition of Participation in Home Health Services is required; Working knowledge of federal and state home health licensure regulations; Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, compliance and reimbursement guidelines; Working knowledge of home health PPS regulations and billing requirements.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Computer skills.

OTHER: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; successful completion of coding test.

LICENSE/CERT: , HCS-D (Home Care Coding Specialist - Diagnosis) within 1 year of hire Preferred: CCS (Certified Coding Specialist), CPC (Certified Professional Collector), RHIA (Registered Health Information Administrator), RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician)

EDUCATION: Required: High School or Equivalent, Other - Related Coursework
