Job Description

Performs and assists with all duties related to specimen collection, laboratory testing and/or diagnostic radiology procedures.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
 
1. Education Certified radiology technician with diploma from accredited school.  
2. Licensure:    
3. Experience: Minimum of one year experience performing radiographic procedures.  
4. Certifications: Certification CPR.  Employment at Meritas Health Occupational Medicine requires drug screen and breath alcohol certification.  
5. Special Skills: Phlebotomy skills and knowledge of various specimen collection techniques.  
6. Other: Excellent interpersonal and verbal & written communication skills.   
 
JOB SPECIFIC STANDARDS: All responsibilities and standards shall be performed according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines for Meritas.
                                                                                              
  1.  
Competently performs phlebotomy procedures.  Collects necessary laboratory specimens for on-site or reference lab testing per provider orders. Organizes work by matching computer orders with specimen labeling, sorting specimens, checking labeling and  logging specimens.

Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and trouble shooting, calibrates equipment using approved procedures, and monitors quality control measures.

Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitor, physicians and co-workers by following established procedures and complying with all regulatory requirements. Takes preventive steps to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation.

Closely follows physician instructions and positions patient properly to obtain diagnostic imaging studies.  Sets equipment to obtain the best density, detail and contrast of the area being imaged, minimizing the need for repeat imaging.

Demonstrates professionalism by articulating and demonstrating professional behavior, accepting responsibility and accountability for actions, adhering to policies and procedures, demonstrating leadership and supporting Meritas initiatives.
