JOB SUMMARY: Performs and assists with all duties related to specimen collection and laboratory testing.
 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Education BS in chemical, biological, clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from
an accredited institution.
2. Licensure:  
3. Experience: Minimum of two years recent experience in a physician office setting, preferably in clinic specialty.
4. Certifications: Current BCLS and ACLS
5. Special Skills: Perform phlebotomy, and various specimen collection techniques.
6. Other: Basic office skills
 
JOB SPECIFIC STANDARDS: All responsibilities and standards shall be performed according to established policies, procedures, and guidelines for Meritas.                                                                 
1. Competently performs phlebotomy procedures.  Collects necessary laboratory specimens for on-site or reference lab testing per provider orders and follows proper specimen handling and labeling procedures.  Contributes to a safe and secure environment for patients, visitor, physicians and co-workers by following established procedures and complying with all regulatory requirements.

Maintains quality results by running standards and controls, verifies equipment function through routine equipment maintenance and trouble shooting, calibrates equipment using approved procedures, and monitors quality control measures.

Ensures laboratory meets COLA certification standards and facilitates the survey process. 

4.

Serves as a technical resource by participating in staff training, answering questions for other professionals, participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, maintaining personal networks and participating in professional organizations.

5.

Demonstrates professionalism by articulating and demonstrating professional behavior, accepting responsibility and accountability for actions, adhering to policies and procedures, demonstrating leadership and supporting Meritas initiatives.
