Responsibilities

INTERN PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

Noblis is seeking qualified technical interns program for our Summer 2019 session.

Guided and mentored by our expert staff (including former interns), Noblis Summer interns augment their classroom learning with hands on project work in: Modeling and simulationSystems engineeringComputer scienceBiometric technologiesLife and chemical/biological sciencesTelecommunications (including wireless technologies)NetworksData/Knowledge managementCorporate business operations, e.g., finance and accounting, information technology.

Your contributions will make an enduring impact in the areas of National Security & Intelligence; Enterprise Transformation; Environmental Sustainability; Transportation (Air and Ground); Health Care Innovation; Noblis Sponsored Research; and Corporate Business Operations.

SPECIFIC INTERN PROJECT OVERVIEW (Energy and Environmental Researach and Development Programs):

Intern Project Goals

The Intern will learn about the Department of Defenses' (DoD) investment in environmental research. The candidate will learn where DoD is investing and why. This includes environmental soil and water remediation, installation energy and water, advanced coatings that are free of toxic metals, unexploded ordnance detection, range and training land preservation and climate change impact to mission effectiveness. The Intern will learn how DoD chooses environmental and energy investment areas, solicits proposals, and makes selections. The Intern will also learn how DoD manages research projects. The Intern will work directly with a Noblis team of engineers, scientists, project managers and software developers. The Intern will also have the opportunity to interact directly with DoD Environmental and Energy Program Managers.

Context

The Intern will be part of larger 20+ person team supporting the DoD. The Intern will be placed within the team depending on their skill set and interests.

Qualifications

What you bring to the table:

* Candidates should be working towards a BS degree in Environmental Engineering, or similar degree
* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* Knowledge of government research and development programs
* Knowledge of energy and environmental areas
