Job Description

Linguistics Intern

Location: Salt Lake City, UT

The Linguistics intern will work on two main projects supporting inContact's analytics platform - providing annotated corpora according to specific guidelines, and implementing and testing linguistic algorithms and rules for inclusion in the NLP technology. The intern will be part of the Linguist Team and report to their daily progress to a senior Computational Linguist.

Major Functions/Responsibility

* Complete a project enhancing inContact's analytics
* Perform corpus analysis over multi-channel data
* Collaborate with computational linguists
* Deliver algorithms and rules building upon inContact's proprietary NLP to produce business insights
* Report and presentation to upper level management on the final results of the project

Required Education, Experience, and Specific Job Related Skills

Education Requirement:

Solid working knowledge of the workings of the English language, including Morphology, Syntax and Semantics

Completion of projects demonstrating strong analytical skills and problem solving abilities

Experience Requirement

Theoretical linguistics training (minimum one year)

Knowledge of Python

Fast learner with excellent communication skills

Ability to work independently on Engineering tasks once requirements are established

Experience Preferred

Corpora mark up and ontology building

Natural language processing experience or computational linguistics

Foreign language proficiency
