Job Description

Become an Apprentice Electrician with Australia’s largest gold producing mine and you will be going places from day one. This multi-billion dollar mine will provide the opportunity to kick start your career in a clean and safe mining environment.

We are seeking to increase the diversity within our Process and Mining Maintenance Teams to improve equal opportunity outcomes for employees.  We encourage women and people from Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent to apply.

We provide you with the opportunity to live locally and go home every day or stay in our Village for your roster and DIDO.  We are only 130kms from the Perth CBD and approximately 100kms from the coast.  You will work an 8:6 roster so there will be plenty of time to enjoy the lifestyle this area can offer you.

What you will be doing

Based on site you will learn through a mixture of on-the-job and classroom training.  Working alongside our qualified technicians you will be involved in maintaining and repairing electrical plant, machinery and instrumentation, fault finding equipment breakdowns and the installation of new equipment.  The nominal term for this apprenticeship is 4 years.

Who you are

Your desire to do a precise and thorough job and keep up to date with changing technology together with your diagnostic ability will be highly regarded.  You must be able to pass a series of aptitude tests which will include numeracy, literacy and technical skills as well as a pre-employment medical including a colour blindness test.  You will have basic to intermediate computer skills including MS office and an interest in computerised systems.  Your previous participation in a pre-vocational training program, such as a pre apprenticeship in Certificate II in Electrotechnology would be advantageous.

What you will gain

Our remuneration package includes private health benefits and a bonus scheme. Working in a friendly and dynamic team environment you will also have the opportunity to progress within the company and enjoy all the benefits a large global company can offer.

Newmont supports employment in the region and strongly encourages local people in Boddington and surrounding areas to apply.

This is your opportunity to gain experience and a recognised trade qualification.

Applications close on Sunday, 11 June 2017.
