Purpose

 

Are you an experienced Network Analyst?  Newmont Mining is current seeking a Network Analyst to join our regional Information Technology Team in Elko, Nevada. The successful candidate will have a strong background in IT Communication and Infrastructure.  This candidate will be ambitious and innovative with the ability to grow and maintain value-added relationships within our team and external customers.

Essential Duties

 

  • Ensures that service providers are carrying out all aspects of contractual obligation for proactive and preventative maintenance of the network.   
  • Collaborates with the regional infrastructure team in definition of network standards and is responsible for regional implementation and compliance.
  • Ensure that all changes to communication and infrastructure systems, whether directly performed, or performed by the Outsource Service Provider, adhere to Newmont standards and procedures.
  • Participate in review of IT Communication and Infrastructure projects and work with the stakeholders to prepare the necessary scoping documents, including investigation of impact, compliance, cost, and benefits.      
  • Assist in the support of all aspects of Newmont-owned IT facilities as applicable to the region, which may include data center, comm rooms, video conferencing, access control, copy/print, HVAC/UPS, cabling, microwave, and related services.              
  • Responsible for coordinating regional network procurement.
  • Maintain and review system logs and network performance.
  • Ensures that all aspects of Newmont’s regional voice and data network and facilities are supported and maintained to standards as applicable to the region, which may include fiber optics & copper cabling, communication rooms, access control, cabling, microwave, communication shelters, 2-way radios, wireless systems, PBX, telephone equipment, digital satellite television and related services.         
  • Responsible for ensuring that the communications infrastructure is maintained to provide reliable services for the region, including working with service providers and Telco Carriers to ensure that the network is stable and highly available.            
  • Ensures that the logical and physical network is performing as required and works with internal and external service providers to repair and restore service as needed.
  • Ensures all state, federal (FCC) and national communication licensing and compliance requirements are met.     
  • Helps develop associated cost budgets and monitors and develops methods to meet the budgets.         
  • Provides coordination and support to service providers in relation to configuration management for communications hardware.        
  • Participate in the preparation and submission of requests for quotes and capital submissions for all equipment required for providing communication services.               
  • Tracks related IT issues, coordinates resolution and assists in driving issues to closure.
  • Promote and adhere to Newmont’s methodologies, policies, procedures and standards. Maintain a consistent high quality of work across all responsibilities.
  • Ensure all requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley legislation are met and the required controls are in place and being maintained.
  • Promote, adhere to, and demonstrate Newmont’s Regional Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures.

Training & Experience

 

  • University Degree or equivalent experience information technology or related field.
  • Five (5) years experience in a technical support role.
  • Possess strong IT knowledge and understanding with deep skills in IT operations, customer relationship management and outsourcing vendor relationship management
  • Network and CISCO certifications a plus               
  • Strong mix of business, functional, and technical skills
  • Proven ability to discuss server, storage and backup concepts and strategies in simple, clear terms to help drive and influence decision making of business and application owners   
  • Broad knowledge of all technology considerations (performance, scalability, maintainability, deployment, operations, technology infrastructure) 
  • Self-driven employee, with a pro-active and strategic vision of IT
  • Ability to effectively plan and control projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with vendors, subordinates, colleagues, clients and customers at all levels
  • Has an overall understanding of the objectives and functions of the company, business units and departments serviced by IT
  • Self-driven leader, with a pro-active and strategic vision of IT service delivery
  • Cost and budget control.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) and Visio.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the essential functions of this job.
