Job Description

Position SummarySupervise Admissions Officer and counseling of prospective students for admissions requirements, application procedures, housing, financial aid options, application completion, document verification, scheduling of interviews, and application processing. Work with Chair of Dental Hygiene Admissions Committee to establish and post admissions guidelines and application deadlines for Dental Hygiene Programs. Develop marketing and recruitment strategies to meet enrollment targets. Counsel prospective students on admissions requirements, application procedures, housing and financial aid options to include guidelines and application deadlines for the Dental Hygiene Program. Provide follow-up and one-on-one counseling with prospective students to foster strong applications. Assess students' academic needs from initial registration, financial aid and medical clearance. Advise students deemed to be on academic discipline by the Committee on Academic Review and Standards (CARS). Establish monitoring system in the Dental Hygiene Program to identify students who are at risk for academic difficulty, encountering academic difficulty as well as those who are on academic discipline. Work with faculty advisors in monitoring students' academic progress in the hygiene curriculum and ensure that students are on track for their expected graduation date; track and ensure that remediated and incomplete grades are posted in a timely fashion. Conduct degree audits to ensure graduate candidates are ready for degree conferral. Provide benchmark reports to Assistant Dean on Board scores to assess progress of dental hygiene students; identify special areas needing attention. Serve as liaison between students and faculty; resolve student faculty issues including confidential matters. Implement special events including open houses, seminars, presentations, workshops and fairs and participate at orientations. Qualifications Required Education:Bachelor's degree and Preferred Education:Master's degree in Counseling and Guidance or Student Personnel in Higher Education. Required Experience:3 years' relevant professional-level experience in student services and admissions or an equivalent combination of education experience. Preferred Experience:Counseling experience in an academic environment, preferably at the college level. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Strong interpersonal, verbal, writing and communication skills. Ability to work with a diverse population at all levels. Ability to work independently as well as part of an integrated team environment. Ability to provide high quality customer service to prospective students and answer any questions related to admissions and application process. Good organizational skills. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and web base applicants systems. Knowledge of standard office software. Some evening work hours required.
