Job Description

The New York Power Authority has developmental opportunity based at its Niagara Project, Lewiston, NY. The primary work functions will be to assist the Civil Engineer and Dam Safety Engineers in the day-to-day activities of the plant engineering tasks and a variety of other projects. The intern will assist the Engineers in day-to-day activities including plan civil works inspections, recordkeeping, data collection and reduction, drawing takeoffs and estimates, review of proposal submittals and contractor activities monitor. In addition, the intern will support critical civil engineering skills such as structural engineering, soil mechanics, material science, fluid mechanics and construction management procedures.

Required Skills

The person we seek will be enrolled in an accredited institution pursing a civil engineering degree. It is preferred that the student be entering their third year of college with a minimum 3.0 GPA. Strong computer knowledge required. Self motivated individual with proficient verbal and written communication skills.
