Product Security Intern (Summer 2020)

Your Opportunity

Are you curious computer science, math or engineering student passionate about a summer internship at an exciting, leading-edge, tech company?

As an Intern in New Relic's San Francisco office, you will join our Information Security team for a full-time paid internship opportunity beginning in May or June of 2020.

During your internship, you'll be a contributing member of the team and develop practical skills that you can apply throughout the rest of your career.

Our Team

New Relic's Product Security team is responsible for the overall security of our customers and their data. We accomplish this by partnering with our Engineering teams to design and ship secure products, features, applications, and services. As an intern, you'll work closely with the rest the team to learn how to identify and understand the security risks in our projects, and how we collaborate on a path to get our code shipped and secure.

What You'll Do

* Learn about and conduct design and implementation reviews, vulnerability management, and product assessments (e.g., testing, hacking)
* Build and deploy security best practices, evangelizing security throughout the New Relic
* Develop your skills and experience in information security by supporting projects that mitigate security risks in our projects

Your Qualifications


* You are currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program from an accredited university
* You are pursuing a Computer Science, Math or Engineering degree with some security work or coursework
* You have completed at least two years of an undergraduate program and are returning to your program after the internship
* Are able to write script or code (e.g., shell scripting, Ruby, Java, Python, Go, Lua, JavaScript). Please include any links to examples in your application


* Experience with common security tools such as nmap, Burp Proxy, Brakeman, etc.
* Familiarity with cloud or infrastructure virtualization technologies and services such as AWS and Docker
* Experience with application and/or networking security testing
* Experience with bug bounty programs and reporting issues to them
