Vice President of Performance Improvement

1. POSITION SUMMARY
(OVERALL PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION)

OVERSEE AND DIRECT ALL PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT AND RISK MANAGEMENT FUNCTIONS, FOR BOTH CLINICAL AND NON-CLINICAL OPERATIONS TO ASSURE COMPLIANCE WITH STANDARDS OF PATIENT SAFETY AND OTHER REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS.

2. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES WHICH MUST BE PERFORMED IN ORDER TO CARRY OUT THE POSITION PURPOSE SUMMARIZED ABOVE:

A.LEAD CARE IMPROVEMENT EFFORTS AND PATIENT CENTERED MEDICAL HOME (PCMH) STRATEGIES TO ADVANCE CLINICAL EXCELLENCE AND PATIENT EXPERIENCE.

B.LEAD ALL JOINT COMMISSION ACCREDITATION AND NATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE (NCQA) RECOGNITION INITIATIVES.

C.WORK TOGETHER WITH THE CHIEF MEDICAL OFFICER (CMO) TO PROVIDE BOARD AND STAFF WITH TIMELY CLINICAL QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT DATA. PROVIDE STAFF SUPPORT TO BOARD COMMITTEE AND CMO. CHAIR INTERDISCIPLINARY STAFF PI COMMITTEE.

D.DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT RISK MANAGEMENT AND PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT

STRATEGIES, POLICIES AND PROGRAMS TO SUPPORT ALL SEGMENTS OF THE ORGANIZATION.

E.ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT, MANAGEMENT, AND COORDINATION OF THE RISK AND QUALITY MANAGEMENT PLANS.

F.LEADS EFFORTS WITH THE CMO AND CFO TO MAXIMIZE PAYMENT INCENTIVES FROM EXTERNAL QUALITY PROGRAMS.

G.ESTABLISH DEPARTMENTAL GOALS TO SUPPORT THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN.

H.STAY ABREAST OF THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS, ADVANCES AND TRENDS IN HEALTHCARE ESPECIALLY THOSE RELATED TO QUALITY OF CARE, IMPROVING OUTCOMES AND PAYMENT REFORM.

I.MAINTAIN CURRENT KNOWLEDGE OF FEDERAL AND STATE REGULATIONS, AND PENDING LEGISLATION.

J.DIRECT AND OVERSEE STAFF: SELECT, HIRE, TRAIN, COACH, AND COUNSEL; MONITOR AND ASSURE PERFORMANCE. EVALUATE DEPARTMENT ROLES AND STRUCTURE TO ASSURE EFFICIENCY AND EFFECTIVENESS AND PROVIDE PROFESSIONAL GROWTH OPPORTUNITIES WHERE POSSIBLE.

K.SERVE AS A MEMBER OF THE SENIOR MANAGEMENT TEAM, ASSURING THAT THE RISK MANAGEMENT AND QUALITY FUNCTION SUPPORTS THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE ORGANIZATION'S STRATEGY AND OBJECTIVES.

L.REPRESENT NFP IN EXTERNAL QUALITY FORUMS AND TEAMS. DIRECTLY COMMUNICATE WITH EXTERNAL QUALITY ORGANIZATIONS FOR INCENTIVE PAYMENT AND OTHER PRIVATE AND PUBLIC MEASUREMENT ACTIVITIES.

M.RESPONSIBLE FOR IDENTIFYING, EVALUATING, AND ANALYZING RISKS INHERENT TO THE OPERATIONS OF THE ORGANIZATION. FORMULATE, IMPLEMENT, ADMINISTER, AND EVALUATE RISK MANAGEMENT STRATEGIES TO EFFICIENTLY AND COST-EFFECTIVELY MANAGE THOSE RISKS.

N.PROMOTE A SAFE ENVIRONMENT FOR PATIENTS, STAFF AND VISITORS. THIS POSITION IS TO PROVIDE OVERSIGHT AND GUIDANCE REGARDING RISK ISSUES AND SAFETY EVENTS, AND MAINTAIN A SYSTEMATIC PROCESS FOR TRACKING AND TRENDING SAFETY EVENTS.

3.QUALIFICATIONS:

A.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING OR SKILLS REQUIRED TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THIS POSITION. SPECIFIC CONCEPTS, COURSES, TRAINING PROGRAMS OR REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS:
(TO PERFORM THIS POSITION SUCCESSFULLY, AN INDIVIDUAL MUST BE ABLE TO PERFORM EACH ESSENTIAL DUTY SATISFACTORILY. KNOWLEDGE OF PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT SCIENCE. DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO CREATE AND IMPLEMENT CLINICAL PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT STRATEGIES.

IN-DEPTH INFLUENCING SKILLS; DEMONSTRATED ABILITY TO ACHIEVE RESULTS THROUGH INFLUENCE.

LEADERSHIP SKILLS: COACHING, TEAM BUILDING, GOAL SETTING, DECISION MAKING, PROBLEM-SOLVING AND ANALYTICAL SKILLS.

C.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION:

BACHELOR'S DEGREE REQUIRED WITH MASTER'S DEGREE PREFERRED. LICENSED REGISTERED NURSE IN STATE OF OHIO OR EQUIVALENT PREFERRED.

FORMAL EDUCATION AND TRAINING IN PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENT SCIENCE PREFERRED.

MINIMUM OF 3 TO 5 YEARS OF PROGRESSIVE MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE.

SEASONED LEVEL MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE IN COMMUNITY HEALTH OUTPATIENT OR AMBULATORY CARE SETTINGS.

OFFICE WORK ENVIRONMENT.

ABILITY TO TRAVEL LOCALLY WITH OCCASIONAL OVERNIGHT TRAVEL. DRIVER'S LICENSE AND INSURANCE REQUIRED.
