Job Description

Part-Time Substitute School Aide

Primary Purpose

Under the direction of the Director of Athletics, the School Aide will performs basic office and clerical tasks and assists in the supervision of students during lunch, recess breaks, and bus arrival and dismissal. Duties include general receptionist duties such as greeting parents and other office visitors, answering phones, taking messages, filing, making copies, mail distribution, and classroom distribution of materials. Duties may also include assisting with registration, working in school stores, data entry, assisting school nurse, assisting with school bulletin, and other miscellaneous office tasks.

Essential Functions and Duties of the Position: The essential functions and duties listed below are intended as illustration of the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements of duties dues not exclude them from the position if work is similar, related or a logical assignment to the position.

* Supervises students during lunch, recess and other specified times
* Assist in supervising students during school dismissal, before school, and update student bus assignment list
* May provide classroom coverage
* Supervises students as requested by administration, which may include detentions and other disciplinary measures
* Assists the school nurse with clerical functions
* Performs receptionist duties such as greeting school visitors, parents, and others with school-related business
* Tracks school visitors
* Answers phones, takes messages, and forwards calls to appropriate personnel
* Runs copies, send faxes, files paperwork, shreds documents, sends out correspondence and bulletins, maintains mailing lists and distributes school mail
* Assists in preparation of school bulletins and bulletin boards
* Performs data entry duties Inputs attendance data into Power School and other databases.
* Receives and distributes standardized tests
* May perform school store duties
* Provides general clerical support for secretaries and school principals

Education and Experience:

Requires High School Diploma or GED and aptitude for working with children. Must be able to work in a fast-paced office setting.

Skills, Abilities and Knowledge:

* Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle difficult situations with sensitivity and tact
* Knowledge and experience in a customer service environment.
* Knowledge of office practices and protocols in a school setting.
* Skill in performing general receptionist duties.
* Skill in performing basic data entry.
* Ability to work with children and supervise students during lunch/recess breaks.
* Ability to interact calmly and professionally with students, parents, office staff, teachers and school visitors.
