Description of NSA

The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation.  The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense. The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes.  The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information.

Security and Counterintelligence is responsible for the protection of NSA/CSS information, people, and facilities worldwide.  In support of this mission, Security Technologists oversee the development, installation and maintenance of physical security systems.  These systems and installations must meet stringent national security directives, UL standards and various national and local codes.  These systems are an integral element of an overall security theory, posture and infrastructure designed to efficiently deter, delay, detect and identify threats to NSA people, resources and facilities.

Description of Position

As a Security System Administrator, you will be required to implement and manage security systems at Agency facilities throughout the world. Specific responsibilities include:

- Designing, installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows server systems and physical security system applications (e.g., alarms, access control, key management, CCTV)
- Using virtualized servers and workstations
- Overseeing contractors to ensure proper installation configuration standards
- Conducting system vulnerability analysis
- Assessing the effectiveness of security solutions against present and projected threats
- Designing system architectures
- Producing formal and informal reports, briefings, and direct input to the customer regarding security and functionality requirements, system architecture, and security designs

The following knowledge and experience is required for candidate considered for a Security System Administrator job:

- Networking
- Windows Server and Desktop
- Virtualization software, VMWare, and Citrix
- SQL databases, including terminology
- Use of volt meters, fiber testing tools, hand tools, and fiber termination kits
 
Qualifications
 
Salary Range:  $45,972 - $73,105 (Entry/Developmental)

Entry is with a Bachelor's degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 4 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 2 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Degree in a Security Technology Systems related field (e.g., Engineering and Antiterrorism Force Protection) is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable.

Relevant experience must be in building, installing, maintaining, and/or training on technology-based security systems and equipment (e.g., alarms, access control, closed circuit TV, and cipher locks).

Salary Range:  $68,036 - $106,012 (Full Performance)

Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 1 year of relevant experience or a Doctoral degree and no experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 7 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 5 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Degree in a Security Technology Systems related field (e.g., Engineering and Antiterrorism Force Protection) is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable.

Relevant experience must be in building, installing, maintaining, and/or training on technology-based security systems and equipment (e.g., alarms, access control, closed circuit TV, and cipher locks).

Salary Range:  $96,970 - $148,967 (Senior)

Entry is with a Bachelor's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree plus 4 years of relevant experience or a Doctoral degree plus 2 years of relevant experience. A high school diploma or GED plus 10 years of relevant experience, or an Associate's degree plus 8 years of relevant experience may be considered.

Degree in a Security Technology Systems related field (e.g., Engineering and Antiterrorism Force Protection) is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable.

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
 
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 and 1800 (flexible).
