Job Description

The professionals at the National Security Agency (NSA) have one common goal: to protect our nation.  The mission requires a strong offense and a steadfast defense.  The offense collects, processes and disseminates intelligence information derived from foreign signals for intelligence and counterintelligence purposes.  The defense prevents adversaries from gaining access to sensitive classified national security information.

Apply in-depth knowledge of cyber operations, threats, countermeasures and planning to develop detailed strategies, campaigns, and Concept of Operations (CONOPs) that drive cyber operational requirements for the NSA, DoD, the U.S. government and its partners.

Description of Position

Cryptologic Cyber Planners use Interagency and NSA planning, processes, and cyber operational experience to support strategic and operational level planning across the full range of DoD and U.S. Government cyberspace operations.  Some of these responsibilities may include:

- Coordinate the development of operational cyber plans to meet strategic objectives.
- Organize, research, and plan meetings and innovative viable plans that are executable by NSA and its partners.
- Synthesize all-source data and intelligence to inform the planning process.
- Collaborate with Cyber Operators, analysts, and planners to identify and levy requirements for intelligence collection and analysis.  Participate in targeting selection, validation, synchronization, and the execution of complex cyber missions.
- Collaborate with Cyber Operators, Analysts, and RDT&E Engineers to gain access and technical intelligence to meet planning objectives.
- Monitor progress, collect feedback, adjust plans, and coordinate with leaders and operational partners for successful plan execution.
- Identify intelligence gaps related to target and/or mission requirements that support strategic objectives.
- Represent the Agency in planning interactions with outside customers, partners, DoD, Congressional representatives, foreign partners, or private industry.
- Apply critical thinking and reasoning to make analytic determinations.
- Plan, develop, and structure analytic approaches to counter our adversaries in cyber space and mitigate U.S. cyber space vulnerabilities.
- Demonstrate the ability to apply technical expertise to planning and forming a bridge between strategy and tactical level plans.
- Demonstrate the ability to conduct deep research on Internet technologies, network vulnerabilities and leverage others' skill sets.

The successful applicant should be a strong candidate with demonstrated technical skills and the motivation and ability to actively research, coordinate and draft viable full spectrum cyber operational plans to meet overall CSO strategies.

The candidate must be creative, enthusiastic, motivated, technically competent and accountable.  This is a dynamic and challenging position that requires the ability to work cooperatively in an interoffice, joint, interagency, and partner environment.  The ideal candidate must be willing to venture into new and emerging cyber mission areas supporting a unique range of strategic cyber objectives.  The candidate must have an understanding of the full range of cyber operations conducted by NSA, USCC and our partners through experience in one and/or preferably many operational offices. Must demonstrate outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work (at times) under pressure are a must. The dynamic nature of the environment mandates that candidates work on multiple tasks simultaneously and that they maintain a high degree of flexibility, tolerance, and composure to respond to changes in task priority and current operational focus.  The successful candidate will feel comfortable working with people from different disciplines, organizational cultures and grade levels. This position requires technical expertise, excellent verbal and written communications, organizational skills, customer service, and coaching and time management skills.
 
Qualifications
 
Salary Range:  $45,972 - $73,105 (Entry/Developmental)

Degree in Cyber Security, Information Assurance or related field is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable.

Relevant experience must be in an area directly related to an NSA mission (e.g., collection, cyber and intelligence analysis) and/or a similar mission in the IC or DoD, and include strategic and/or operational level planning (e.g., joint operations). External engagement/collaboration experience (e.g., participation in cross-Agency working groups, JDA, field assignments, and external customer support) is preferred.

Salary Range:  $68,036 - $106,012 (Full Performance)

Degree in Cyber Security, Information Assurance or related field is preferred, but a degree in any field is acceptable.

Relevant experience must be in an area directly related to an NSA mission (e.g., collection, cyber and intelligence analysis) and/or a similar mission in the IC or DoD, and include strategic and/or operational level planning (e.g., joint operations). External engagement/collaboration experience (e.g., participation in cross-Agency working groups, JDA, field assignments, and external customer support) is preferred.

Salary Range:  $96,970 - $148,967 (Senior)

Salary Range:  $134,789 - $164,200 (Expert)

Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
 
On-the job training, Internal NSA courses, and external training will be made available based on the need and experience of the selectee.

Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 to 1800 (flexible)
