Job Description

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a leader in the U.S. Department of Energy’s effort to secure an energy future that is both environmentally and economically sustainable. With locations in Golden and Boulder, CO and Washington D.C., NREL is the primary laboratory for research, development and deployment of renewable energy technologies in the United States. The NREL mission is to develop renewable energy and energy efficient technologies and practices, advance related science and engineering, and transfer knowledge and innovation to address the nation’s energy and environmental goals.

NREL’s office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) has four internship openings available, and we are considering undergraduate and graduate level candidates. The internship dates are from 6/10/18 to 8/2/18. These individuals will have the opportunity to rotate between two of the four different support functions and activities within NREL: Financial Operations, Financial Planning & Analysis, Acquisition Services and Financial Systems & Processes.

Job duties will include:

  • Supporting ongoing financial, budgetary, accounting, procurement, financial systems and process analysis
  • In consultation with mentors, perform independent analysis and processing of documents
  • Utilize and interpret data from several software systems including, but not limited to: Oracle E-Business Suite, Concur, BI Reporting Tools, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrate quantitative and critical thinking skills in the areas of finance, accounting, general business, supply chain and/or a law background.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organization, time management, and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and on a team

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation. Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Please Note: You will need to upload unofficial transcripts and a letter of recommendation as part of the application process.

  • Experience with financial systems
