Job Description

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) is a leader in the U.S. Department of Energy’s effort to secure an energy future that is both environmentally and economically sustainable. NREL's Chemistry and Nanoscience Department has an opening for a Postdoctoral Researcher specializing in ultrafast spectroscopy of nanostructures. The successful applicant will have expertise in various ultrafast spectroscopic measurements of nanostructures and quantum dots with extensive experience designing and building new ultrafast spectroscopic probes. Additionally the successful applicant should have expertise in data analysis, simulation of ultrafast experimental results and writing of manuscripts. The successful applicant will have the ability to work with material scientist to probe and understand surfaces and interfaces of newly developed chemistries and heteroarchitectures.

The ideal candidate will have just received a Ph.D in physics, chemistry, optics, or the equivalent, as well as experience working with ultrafast laser sources and methods, data collection, simulating experimental results, experience with building and designing new femtosecond laser experiments to probe carrier, electron-phonon interactions, and exciton dynamics.


Required Education, Experience, and Skills

Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.


Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. in physics or chemistry. Direct experience with ultrafast laser experiments.
