Job Description

Job Summary

This internship will primarily focus on conducting baseline industrial hygiene surveys and performing industrial hygiene sampling as identified in company sampling plan. Also the internship could include the following industrial hygiene/safety activities:

  • Completion of safety-related corrective actions identified in assessments or readiness verification
  • Inspections of iSafe fall protection equipment, hoisting and rigging gear, and ladders
  • Monitoring for heat stress and noise
  • Data entry of industrial hygiene information
  • Ergonomic evaluations
  • Participation in a HAZOP
  • Safety assessments on specific research projects
  • Development of equipment specific lockout procedures

These tasks require the intern to effectively communicate with their mentor and other EHS members about the expected work, progress toward completing that work, and any issues that arise. This internship will involve extensive time in a laboratory environment and it is essential for the intern to support a safe and efficient work environment.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation. Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Please Note: Before interview selection, you will need to provide unofficial transcripts to verify GPA and full time enrollment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industrial Hygiene, Safety, or Environmental Health majors
  • Understanding of industrial hygiene sampling methods
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Can be flexible moving from one project to the next
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, computer and organizational skills
