Job Description

The employee will develop III-V material growth templates and solar cell devices using epitaxial growth techniques, and perform extensive characterization and analysis of the resulting materials and devices.

Job Duties:

Primary duties involve the development of state of the art III-V growth templates, materials (GaAs and related alloys) and solar cells. The work will involve using molecular beam epitaxy (MBE), hydride vapor phase epitaxy (HVPE) and/or organometallic vapor phase epitaxy (OMVPE) growth capabilities to understand and improve growth templates, III-V materials and devices; studies of the growth of high-quality III-V materials and interfaces; extensive material and device processing and characterization; design of devices and analysis of their performance; and the experimental and theoretical understanding of the growth mechanisms. The work will lead to significant additions to the knowledge base of materials and device science and to the dissemination of that work through publication in journals.

Required Education and Experience:

PhD in Physics, Chemistry, Material Science, Electrical Engineering or related field with specific experience in semiconductor materials, device physics, epitaxy. Experience with a variety of characterization techniques including XRD, RHEED, SEM, and Hall effect. Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

Demonstrated skills and experience in the growth and characterization of III-V materials and devices using MBE.

Experience in characterizing semiconductor materials and devices by x-ray diffraction, electron microscopy, quantum efficiency, current-voltage. Strong publication record.


Required Education, Experience, and Skills

Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
