Job Description

The candidate will support a variety of tasks related to renewable energy policies and the voluntary green power market in NREL's Strategic Energy Analysis Center. The successful candidate will have strong research and writing skills.

The candidate will support renewable energy policy, market, and regulatory projects through data collection, literature reviews, industry interviews, writing, and spreadsheet analysis.

Possible key projects include:

• Support efforts to track the size and status of the voluntary market (corporate and institutional purchasers of renewable energy), including compiling data, tracking news, and researching green power programs offered by utilities and marketers.

• Track state commercial solar policies and legislative activities. Update state policy guides and provide timely updates to NREL staff.

• Provide technical assistance to city and county staff on solar procurement.

• Provide research support on interconnection or grid related challenges related to renewable energy integration

• Provide assistance on solar-related resiliency challenges

Full time for the summer, and would prefer extension through May 31st 2019 (either full or part time)

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited institution. Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation. Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. Please Note: Before interview selection, you will need to provide unofficial transcripts to verify GPA and full time enrollment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's degree student in environmental studies, economics, law, policy, or business, with background in renewable energy, engineering, or other relevant field.

Excellent research, written communication, and Excel and PowerPoint skills.

Knowledge and experience in one or more:
- Corporate sustainability

- On-site solar procurement

- Clean energy market and policy analysis

- Grid and interconnection issues
