Job Description

Within catalyst synthesis, applicant needs knowledge of and ability to synthesize high surface area materials by direct wet-synthesis approaches. Within catalyst testing, knowledge is needed of kinetic processes including oxygen and hydrogen evolution, and routes to improve performance and durability. Additional ability is needed with how to perform kinetic evaluations, including resistance and transport corrections, and for determining and interpreting electrochemical surface area measurements and specific activities. Additional abilites needed include written and oral communication.

Laboratory responsibilities include synthesizing catalysts for electrolysis applications, and completing half-cell and single-cell performance evaluations and durability tests. Half-cell testing will involve the testing of materials in rotating disk electrode half-cells, with a focus on the kinetic capability of materials and using ex-situ testing as a predictor for device performance. Single-cell testing will involve catalyst screening and comparing performance and durability to established baselines.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.
