Job Description

The National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) in Golden, Colorado, is the nation's primary laboratory for research, development, and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies. The National Bioenergy Center at NREL has an opening for a full time Postdoctoral Researcher. The initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal.

Successful candidates will use proteomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics, and synthetic biology tools to discover, integrate, evolve, and improve new pathways and new genes in engineered strains for production of renewable chemicals from lignin-derived intermediates. The successful candidate will be able to work independently. The requirements for this position include generation of novel, multi-omics data, the discovery of new gene functions, engineering of non-model strains, and authorship of peer-reviewed publications.

Required Qualifications:

A recent Ph.D. (less than 3 years) in Microbiology, Cell and Molecular Biology, Biological Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. Demonstrated experience in gene discovery, multi-omics analysis, synthetic biology, and strain evolution.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills

Must be a recent PhD graduate within the last three years.

Preferred Qualifications

Ability to communicate scientific results effectively, both written and oral, and the ability to work effectively in a large, multidisciplinary team of engineers, chemists, and biologists.
