Job Description

National Instruments is seeking a Digital Hardware Design Engineer for the BEEcube engineering team located in Santa Clara, CA. The successful candidate will become a core member of the product development team. Your primary responsibility will be to develop FPGA hardware for RF and communications application. You will define high level block diagram and schematic capture of complex digital systems comprised of FPGAs, DRAM, DACs, ADCs, and other high-speed interfaces. You will design the associated functions like power supplies and clock generation circuits, maintaining signal and power integrity in the design. In addition, the application engineering team will interact with you to report requirements from customers. Development activities include: - Design FPGA based HW with the latest Xilinx FPGA devices (e.g., Virtex 7 series and Ultrascale series) - Block level definition and schematic capture of FPGA-centric subsystems such as DDR3 DRAM and high-speed serial interfaces (PCIe, 10 and 40 Gb Ethernet, JESD204B, etc.) - Participate in and review the high speed circuit board design - Validate the design with circuit level and functional tests in cooperation with the FW/SW development team and using lab test equipment - Author and edit data sheets, IP user guides, etc.

Position Requirements

Required: - BS or above in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Electrical Engineering - 3+ years of industrial work experience - Solid understanding of developing FPGA based HW design using SCH/PCB design tools - Hands-on experience with some of the following FPGA related HW architecture elements: DDR3, PCIe, JESD ADC/DAC interfaces - Excellent lab experience with oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, etc. - Good understand of signal and power integrity challenge of high-speed FPGA HW design - Good teamwork and enthusiasm for working in a dynamic environment Preferred: - Experience with SCH design entry and PCB layout tools from Mentor - Experience with signal and power integrity simulation tools like Hyperlinx - Experience with analog and RF design includes: ADC, DAC, RF transceiver
