Position Software Engineer - NIPR State Tribe Req Code 96395 Location Kansas City Full Time Yes Job Overview The National Insurance Producer Registry (NIPR), an affiliate of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), has an exciting opportunity for an Software Engineer who would enjoy working for an organization that strives every day to support the public good and make a difference.

This position is located in NIPR's state-of-the-art office is located in the Town Pavilion just a block from downtown Kansas City's Power and Light District. Town Pavilion includes state-of-the-art equipment, a fitness center, and great restaurants. This is a full time position in a great environment!

Responsibilities include:

* Working on cross functional Agile teams with application design, development languages, security, and tools.
* Participates in automation of tests and processes
* Working with in unit, integration, regression, and performance testing.
* Participates in code reviews and provides technical and architectural suggestions to improve existing code base
* Troubleshoots and resolves data and application software problems as assigned.
* Operates under minimal supervision within a collaborative team environment.
* Provides excellent customer service to NAIC/NIPR customers, both internally and externally.

Minimum Education and/or experience required:

Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Computer Science or Associates Degree in Applied Science specific to Computer Science is preferred but not required; one to six years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

* Minimum 1 years in Java development
* Java, Spring/Spring Boot experience
* JavaScript and Single Page Application frameworks (e.g. React/Redux, Angular, Vue.js
* Must have SQL knowledge, proficient in query writing, structure
* Source control systems (git, subversion, etc.)
* Unix/Linux
* JBoss
* Confluence or other wiki
* JIRA or other issue tracking tool

Preferred Experience:

* Experience with automation testing with at least one automation tool-Selenium, Rest Assured, JMeter, etc.
* Experience on a cross-functional agile team
* Cloud Development experience (AWS, GCP, Azure, Cloud Foundry)
* Amazon Web Services, AWS Basic competency preferred
* Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI / CD)
* React & Redux experience
* NoSQL competency
* Java Servlet container competency (e.g. JBoss, Tomcat)
* Docker/Kubernetes competency
* Experience with insurance industry a plus
* Participated in DevOps environment
* Participated in a cloud migration
* Git competency
