Job Description

MWH is seeking qualified entry-level applicants for the position of Associate Electrical Engineer located in our Sacramento, California office.In this position, the applicant will work with a multi-discipline group of engineers and technicians in providing technical services to public and private sector clients. This position will be working in the field of electrical engineering on hydroelectric and water resource projects. Candidate shall possess strong computer, writing, and communication skills and shall work well in a team environment. The candidate will work under the direction of mid- and senior level engineers. Assignments may support new development, modernization, and upgrade of electrical equipment and balance of plant mechanical systems.The primary responsibilities for this role will include:- Work utilizing CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) to produce final design documents.- Assist with:o hydraulic generator selections, equipment layout and coordination with other engineering disciplines during preliminary feasibility studies and design;o analyses and design as well as construction services related to the electrical equipment and balance of plant electrical systems;o organization and review of supplier submittals;o witness of equipment inspections and tests; ando field activities including providing technical assistance during construction, installation, site inspections, testing and commissioning, and other site work.- Establishes and maintains an internal network of peers and subject matter experts.- Applicant shall work in a manner to ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by following company health and safety guidelines and policies.- Domestic or international travel may be requiredQualifications- Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering with power systems emphasis is required. - 0 to 3 years of experience in the design and implementation of solutions in electrical engineering.- Must have taken or be prepared to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam to become and Engineer in Training (EIT) within one year of employment date.- Must demonstrate good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.- Must demonstrate good written and oral communication skills in English.- Must demonstrate the ability to convey project technical information to project managers, clients and peers.- Must demonstrate organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take direction.- Basic computer knowledge is required including Microsoft Office software.- Must have a solid educational background and sound knowledge of the fundamentals of electrical engineering and critical thinking.- Must have basic knowledge of motors, generators, breakers, switchgears, controllers, and protection.- Must have basic knowledge of balance of plant electrical systems such as motor control centers, switchgears, generator/motor protection, and SCADA.- Must have basic knowledge of calculations for electrical short circuit and coordination study, including arc flash study.- Must be willing to travel occasionally, as dictated by project workload.- Strong willingness to be a part of a large global engineering company, and to work with teams in other offices around the worldPreferred Specifications- Advanced degree in electrical engineering is preferred.- Desire to obtain Professional Engineering registration.- Experience in water resources or hydroelectric power is preferred.- Basic level of experience in short circuit and coordination studies.- CADD (Computer-Aided Design and Drafting) experience preferred and Micro Station or AutoCAD experience is a plus.- Ability to speak a foreign language is a plusAdditional InformationMWH is an EEO employer - MWH considers applicants for all positions without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, creed, color, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, veteran status, medical condition, marital status, sexual orientation, citizenship or other basis in accordance with federal, state or local laws or regulations.Requisition Number7983BRCitySacramentoState/ProvinceCaliforniaCountryUnited StatesOperationsE&I West Pacific NW
