This position will support the Electrical Power Systems group.  This is a group centered around the racing community and development of cutting edge technology directed at converting energy into electric power.  We are looking for individuals with a high technical aptitude who are interested in working in a fast paced development rich environment.


Primary Objective: Conduct system-level integration, commissioning and acceptance of inverters and motors in MTS test laboratory. Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues that cross mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, controls, and software disciplines. Develop and provide data reporting and analysis. Support product development with design validation testing and product feature suggestions. Support customer delivery with production testing. Develop and manage laboratory capabilities.


Major Areas of Accountability:
1. System Commissioning
• Integrate subsystems (mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, controls, software, etc.) into a fully functional system. Work with team members to resolve system-level issues
• Ensure alignment between contractual commitments, acceptance plan and customer expectations.
• Verify and validate system performance according to acceptance plan. Provide test report and analysis.

2. Customer delivery support
• Ensure quality control through rigorous testing and detailed result documentation

3. Laboratory management
• Maintain updated inventory of testing assets and ensure their calibration
• Propose and install new testing capabilities to best achieve testing goals
• Continuously develop data analysis software

4. Product Development Support
• Provide feedback to software, electrical, electromechanical and mechanical development team members on existing issues and future product enhancements observed during targeted testing, system checkout, and customer interactions.
• Proposes new product concepts and features and conduct or lead aspects of R&D projects as appropriate.
• Stay current with new technologies and seek to leverage these in products and services as appropriate.

5. Other
• Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.



Education: BS degree in engineering or related field.
Experience: 9 years engineering experience.

Ability to travel up to 10%, domestic and international.

Systems Commissioning: Ability to commission highly complex, highly custom systems.
Customer Delivery Support: Experience in developing testing plan in continuity with customer expectations and contractual commitments.
Laboratory Management: Proven track record in developing and implementing new test methods and equipment to improve test goals.
Product Development Support: Experience developing and implementing new design validation approaches, capturing customer expectations relative to product validation, and understanding and utilizing best practices of customer test processes.
