Primary Objective:
Integrate various information sources to develop and implement a demand plan for materials and limited resources. Manage demand data collection, analysis and forecasting activity associated with customers, products and other significant demand sources.


Major Areas of Accountability:
1. Manages the tools and processes for forecast integration with SAP.

  • Ensures availability of effective methods & tools to drive procurement & manufacture of materials and labor in appropriate SAP modules.
  • Manages & maintains tools and processes used for materials and labor forecasting.
  • Trains others in use of demand management tools and processes as needed.
  • Ensures master data related to demand planning are maintained and current.

2. Develops, manages and maintains a rolling materials forecast sufficient to enable response times that meet customer expectations while minimizing inventory investment.

  • Includes labor for in-house manufactured forecast materials
  • Utilizes various resources to ensure accurate product usage and future sales forecast

3. Develops, manages and maintains a rolling labor forecast for future manufacturing and engineering labor demand not covered by the rolling materials forecast.

  • Materials requiring engineering design or review before release
  • Engineering and manufacturing labor not directly related to materials
  • Engineering and manufacturing labor for R&D projects
  • Engineering pre-sale work
  • Engineering and manufacturing labor for in-house service orders and projects

4. Actively work to improve demand planning processes. Initiate local improvement activities. Participate in and support management sponsored improvement teams and activities.

5. Provides demand data input to the Sales & Operations Planning process. Adjusts demand forecasts based on the output and agreements from the S&OP process.

6. Maintain expert knowledge of demand planning & forecasting tools, methods and associated systems. Maintain understanding of Sales & Operations Planning concepts, policy and best practices.




  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain, or related majors.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in demand planning within a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of or experience in a Class A manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with MRP systems.
  • SAP experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with applied mathematics and statistics in collecting and interpreting quantitative data.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • APICS or ISM certification (or ability to attain within 18 months of accepting position).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
