Imagine being part of a collaborative team of accounting professionals who work on highly visible and technically challenging and where your contributions are recognized.  As an Accountant, you will be responsible for accurate and timely reporting of complex Worldwide Project Revenue Recognition for Completed Contract (on shipment, on acceptance, and on billing), Percentage-of-Completion, and Costs in compliance with US GAAP.

 

The Accountant is a subject matter expert on worldwide service revenue recognition, and is  accountable to ensure that any/all changes to Project Revenue programs are accurate and in compliance with US GAAP.  You will also develop/implement processes and system enhancements that affect Project Accounting and Revenue Recognition and ensure SOX controls are appropriate and all SOX requirements are met.

 

Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

 

  • Develop, execute, and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close of SAP general ledger.
    • Compiles and analyzes financial information through preparation of reports, general ledger entries, and review of the trial balance.
    • Analyze and implement accounting guidance to determine proper accounting treatment for complex and non-routine transactions.
    • Oversees the maintenance of general ledger accounts.
    • Establishes and communicates accounting information by maintaining a thorough understanding of US GAAP.
    • Primary contact for internal, external, and SOX audits of financial data; provides accurate information and responds to inquiries.
    • Establish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with other departments within MTS to understand the business and advise on financial impact of various business and accounting positions.
    • Responsible for all general ledger activities.
    • Design, calculate (in accordance with US GAAP), and identify all corporate judgmental accruals including appropriate methodology and communication of any needed changes, resulting in accurate and well supported preparation and posting monthly, quarterly and annually.
    • Responsible for accuracy in accounting records and preparing account reconciliations in a timely and accurate manner, including understanding data involved, analyzing data to test adequacy of account balances, and back-up support.
    • Identifies, initiates, and maintains recurring entries.
    • Prepares quarterly and year-end schedules as required, including AUC reporting, Sales Force reporting, and Inventory Reserve Rollforward, Results Analysis and others.
    • Works to resolve and respond to issues and requests from various internal customers regarding accounting issues and reports.
    • Analyze variances and assist with interpretation of financial reports and results.
    • Assist with segments of quarterly reviews.
    • Designs, modifies, and leads process and system changes.

 

  • Responsible for accurate, knowledgeable, and timely recognition of Worldwide Service Revenue.
    • Ensures Worldwide Revenue Recognition programs are correctly entered into SAP and are executed per plan.
    • Is Subject Matter Expert for all Revenue questions and is in an advisory capacity for the business units.
    • Primary contact for internal, external, and SOX audits of financial data; provides accurate information and responds to inquiries.
    • Assures financial accuracy by verifying results of Revenue programs are accurate and takes necessary action to correct any issues which may arise, including correcting general ledger entries, educating internal customers, and defining corrective action for any needed IT support.
    • Researches, as required, and understands GAAP requirements to ensure Revenue is accurate.
    • Owns and ensures Revenue process documents are current and internal controls operating effectively.
    • Designs, modifies, and leads process changes for Revenue Recognition and SOX controls.
    • Interface with internal customers as needed to answer inquiries.
    • Leads process and system changes.

 

  • Manage Fixed Assets function to ensure compliance with Corporate and external financial requirements.
    • Manages the complete Fixed Asset process, including verification of proper authorizations on all CEP requests, cost settlements to Asset Projects, timely Asset Capitalization upon project completion, and all Depreciation activities.
    • Responsible for Fixed Asset inventory completed every three years, including communicating with owners, ensuring inventory is completed and properly maintained in Fixed Asset system.
    • Manages depreciation postings, prepares required reporting, analyzes results, and verifies accuracy of Fixed Assets in SAP Worldwide.
    • Accountable for monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of all Fixed Asset Balance Sheet accounts for internal and external users.
    • Reviews and analyzes corporate expense to ensure compliance with capitalization policy.
    • Leads process and system changes.

 

Ideal candidates for this role will have the following required skills and experience (Basic Qualifications):

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Minimum 2 years of professional accounting experience.
  • High proficiency in MS Office, with emphasis on Excel.


Additional skills and experience preferred:

  • Knowledge of SAP or major ERP system.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
