Primary Objective: Plan, manage, and coordinate resources (people and tools) to ensure the cost-effective development and delivery of products and systems that meet customer requirements, on time and on budget. Lead a team of cross-functional Project Engineers as we continue to deliver to vast customer base.

 

Major Areas of Accountability:

1. Ensures projects are managed in accordance with the Project System to meet technical performance, budget and schedule requirements.
•Conducts front-end reviews to ensure projects are well defined, appropriately estimated, and technical and financial risks are identified.
•Directs post award order acknowledgment, order acceptance, and negotiation of contractual changes.
•Manages actual to planned performance and takes appropriate corrective action.
•Develops effective techniques or strategies for use by Project Engineers to minimize technical and financial risk to scheduled projects.
•Collaborates with project system process owners, functional owners and others to improve the performance of the project system.
•Coaches Project Engineers on process objectives, requirements, responsibilities, and priorities.

2. Manages operational process improvement and efficiency within operational area of responsibility through identifying and implementing process improvement opportunities.
•Uses measures to quantify results and to identify corrective actions needed.
•Facilitates technical problem solving by ensuring processes and methods are in place to identify technical problems before they become crises and determine appropriate action to solve technical problems.
•Tracks technical problems to identify trends and determine cost-effective ways to eliminate root causes.

3. Manages subordinates’ activities to ensure accurate estimating of project costs and delivery.
•Reviews actual labor and manufacturing costs and compares against estimates. Discusses variances with the responsible Project Engineer and initiates corrective action where appropriate.
•Coaches Project Engineers in decisions regarding local versus global optimization and monitors cost reduction progress.

4. Provides regular reporting to Operations Manager in preparation of P&L and Balance sheet forecast including revenue, shipped margin, warranty, WIP, receivables and advances for area of responsibility. Monitors performance against plan, and acts to minimize deviations.

5. Establishes annual cost center budget, monitors expenditures, and takes corrective action as needed.

6. Responsible for the on-going management and development of assigned employees. Hires, manages, and develops a skilled staff and work environment to meet objectives.

 

 

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent. Minimum 5 years experience in specification, development, design, integration, and/or application engineering in a project environment or equivalent; plus, 5 years of progressively demanding project management experience Minimum 2 years experience in engineering supervision in a project environment or equivalent.
Previous experience successfully managing multiple projects within a similar sized volume/revenue, including developing project schedules, financial tracking and reporting, and allocating/directing resources for various phases of projects.
Must have demonstrated the ability to drive change and continuous improvement across a broad level/scope.
Ability to build relationships, lead cross-functional teams, and build consensus among a large group.
Proven ability to successfully solve complex business and technical problems.
Experience in developing BOMs with MRP systems.
Working knowledge of industry engineering standards, practices, and regulations.
