MTS Systems creates some of the world’s highest performance mechanical testing systems for customers that include Formula 1 teams, leading automotive and aerospace companies and the world’s leading researchers in materials, seismic and other engineering disciplines. Our control software enables these systems to achieve extremely high levels of physical simulation fidelity and performance by enabling advanced controls, data acquisition and modeling capabilities.


Are you looking for a role where you will have the opportunity to design and deliver high quality application platform software? If so, this is the role for you! You will be an integral part of the Application Platform group and responsible for all aspects of UXS for industry leading products.


In this role, you will…


  • Collaborate with UX team to design and create interfaces for our software products, from concept to launch.


  • Participate in user and design research including; usability studies, contextual inquiries, beta testing and competitive product analysis.


  • Incorporate the Application Platform UI direction and requirements into wireframes and mockups based on user research, functional requirements, technology constraints, and company objectives.


  • Work to create user experience design prototypes and ensure the designs align with visual branding and product objectives.


  • Develop, document and employ UI best practices and interaction patterns that guide developers in building clear, efficient, and consistent user interface elements.


  • Create innovative user experiences including concept creation, workflow mapping, task modeling, and information and navigation architecture and interaction design.


  • Enact the UX strategy and roadmap for the Application Software Platform group.


  • Participate in development of conceptual/logical design architectures that improve user productivity and satisfaction.


  • Develop and build cross-functional team support using design storyboards, wireframes and prototypes.


  • Coordinate organization level usability design activities, direction, development, and deployment of capabilities.


To be considered for this role, you must have…


  • Bachelor's Degree in Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Information Architecture, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Information Technology, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science or related field.


  • 7 or more years of experience designing user interfaces for software products across multiple platforms including Microsoft Windows desktop applications.


  • Experience with research techniques such as usability testing and contextual inquiry.


  • Ability to travel (5-10%)


 These additional skill sets will get you to the top of the selection process:


  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.


  • Experience working in a complex domain.


  • Experience with tools such as Axure, Balsamiq, Photoshop, Illustrator, Expression Blend, Morae, Adobe Creative Suite, OmniGraffle, Visio or equivalent wireframe / prototyping tools desired.


  • Familiarity with Agile/Scrum Process
