Regional Marketing Lead (EMEAC), Gastrointestinal Oncology-REG003034


MSD continues to become an industry leader in immuno-oncology building on strong clinical data to bring hope and support to patients with cancer. We next turn our attention to GI where we assess market potential and ensure launch readiness for our lead investigational product.

We create a new role for a EMEAC Regional Marketing Lead (RML), specifically focused on GastroIntestinal Oncology. In this role you will spearhead the EMEAC regional marketing strategy in the indication. The role allows a huge opportunity to define our strategy in these critical diseases and ensure execution with the support of the global / regional / local resources.

We search for a self-driven individual with experience in launch preparation / execution. We need someone to define our strategy, therefore you must have worked in one of the two disease areas before. The role comes with great exposure to Senior Executives across the organisation and we search for someone with the ability to build a strategy based on real world data, sell the concept to leadership and execute to build expertise in the local markets to enable launch. The role is based in our picturesque offices in Kriens, near Luzern in the heart of the Swiss Alps and lakes.

This new hire is a key member of the EMEAC Oncology marketing team for a promising investigational product for a new class of immune oncology drugs. This person's main responsibilities will to prepare at a regional level the commercialization of these indications across EMEAC. This will include identification and engagement plans for key stakeholders, development of message platform and promotional campaign for the respective indications. At the same time, this person must ensure full integration of these plans within the overall brand strategy. This person will lead the development of the marketing tools that will be used to drive the strategic choices that enable leadership in what is expected to be a highly competitive market. The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of the Oncology market including current & future trends within the IO class and beyond. Strong leadership skills and ability to collaborate across the organization, particularly within the broader EMEAC (regional & local teams) and global marketing team, will be essential. This candidate will need to have strong business acumen and a demonstrated ability to understand and manage key levers that drive growth and profitability. An understanding of the GI market space, key drivers, payer and reimbursement levers is expected. This position will be based in Kriens, Switzerland and will report to the EMEAC Head of Marketing.

This position will require outstanding leadership in many areas of marketing management including field execution, strategy development, market segmentation, personal and non-personal promotion, competitive dynamics, and issues management. The candidate must demonstrate an ability to operate in a highly complex environment.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

-Preparation of a regional EMEAC marketing strategy focusing on the indication commercialization plan including articulation of the underlying scientific story
-Providing markets with guidance on local implementation in alignment with the global indication teams
-Primary POC for the global indication team to represent the EMEAC voice on that team
-Engagement Plans for Key Stakeholders (oncologists, indication scientific leaders, pharmacologists…)
-Account mapping and Market Segmentation
-Message Development
-Promotional Campaign Development
-Support development and execution of internal & external Med Ed, training and coaching of key stakeholders


Required experience & skills:

-Oncology Marketing experience in Gastrointestinal (e.g. launch preparation and execution of GI brands).
-Proven experience as commercial lead or other relevant role at a country or regional level
-Proven experience in sales and/or marketing and managing relationships with key clients
-In-depth understanding of market research methods and analysis
-Solid knowledge of performance reporting and financial/budgeting processes
-Commercial awareness partnered with a strategic mindset
-Excellent organizational and leadership skills
-Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
-Strong project management skills, leadership, problem solving, teamwork, analytical, and written/verbal communication
- Working knowledge and experience with collaboration, influencing without authority and working successfully with cross-functional teams
- Requires substantial travel effort

Preferred experience & skills:

-Cross-country experience (ideally in multiple large markets in the EU)
-Existing scientific /medical network and interest in GI

Education minimum requirement:

-BSc/BA in business administration, finance or relevant field; MSc/MA is a plus
