Oncology Sales Manager-CHA000918


MSD is recruiting for a degree-qualified Sales Manager to take primary responsibility for the leadership and effectiveness of a team of Oncology Customer Engagement Specialists. In this critical role in the Oncology Cross Functional leadership team, you will be accountable for the delivery of Oncology sales performance to meet or exceed target and the development and retention of effective relationships with key customers, working to deliver the following responsibilities on a country wide basis.

The position is a dedicated resource in the Oncology CBL and will report directly to the Oncology Business Unit director and will require close collaboration with the marketing and market access functions to implement the Oncology Business Unit Strategy. Furthermore, you will closely work with Medical Affairs to provide critical customer insight and a coordinated approach to the implementation of promotional and non-promotional field based activities.
MSD's main offices are located in Lucerne, Switzerland.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following main tasks:
- Build a world class oncology sales force to support Keytruda and the MSD Oncology portfolio; expand sales footprint for subsequent product launches, upon positive registration-enabling clinical trial results, assuring optimum field force size, territory and regions and alignment
- Ensure a fully resourced and operationally effective Oncology Customer Engagement Specialist team, including team recruitment, product training, capability development, performance management and full compliance with internal processes, SOPs and the Code of Practice
- Become market expert by developing deep market, customer, product and competitive insights. Understand the changing healthcare landscape and strategically adapt the field organization to succeed in this ever-changing environment
- Establish KPIs in collaboration with the Marketing team; track, monitor and take required action to ensure the delivery of these metrics
- Through the promotional field team, establish clear engaging relations with mutually agreed objectives to involve key stakeholders and opinion leaders in targeted activities. Provide the primary point of contact to MSD and the Oncology Business Unit and co-ordinate with the cross functional team to ensure the effective and efficient implementation of key tactical programmes with these stakeholders & opinion leaders
- Deliver robust customer insight to inform and shape strategic decision making and effective lifecycle management decisions across the products of the Oncology CBL
- Leadership and collaboration to create a cohesive, yet challenging cross functional team of leaders that empower individuals working across the operational team to make decisions and create value for patients, the healthcare system and MSD


- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant discipline, MBA preferred
- Fluency in German and English (verbal and written), additional French language skills are beneficial

Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 4 years of pharmaceutical, biotech or related sales leadership
- Managed Markets, Marketing experience and/or Government Affairs, Medical Affairs experience a plus
- Minimum of 2 years Swiss Oncology market experience preferred
- Pharmaceutical launch experience, preferably in Oncology
- Experience working with co-promotion or co-commercialization partners is a plus
- Detailed working knowledge of the Swiss healthcare system
- Documented track record of delivering successful outcomes as a line manager
- Expertise in partnering with customers building sustainable relationships and leveraging customer insights to drive solutions and strategies across the franchise that address previously unmet needs
- Proactive business approach, actively seeking creative and innovative ways to align portfolio products with customer health strategies
- Proven ability to provide development coaching
- Proven ability to efficiently work within a project/operational matrix environment
- Familiarity with business analytics tools and methodology

Required skills and competencies:
- Results orientation with a proven track record of success for consistently meeting or exceeding sales/quantitative targets and qualitative objectives
- Business knowledge of the Swiss commercial environment, field force best practices/emerging approaches, Oncology market access trends and the Oncology clinical/scientific landscape
- External orientation with a demonstrable ability to establish physician thought leader and other relevant stakeholder relationships
- Motivational acumen via strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills to motivate/align action towards a shared vision and strategy
- Ability to coach and influence, and work effectively within a matrix and multi-cultural environment
- Analytic ability to evaluate performance data and refine deployment strategies
