**BRIEF POSITION SUMMARY:** The Strategic Account Executive is responsible for developing new account business at multi-site $500 million+ national organizations. Generate sales growth through intelligent sales activities including territory planning, new client acquisition, client relationship building, territory prospecting, and marketing.



**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:**



+ Develops ongoing prospects to establish long-term business partnerships through internal and external information sources.

+ Prospects are received from the field, e-procurement partners or own prospecting efforts and must be aligned with the NA Ideal Customer Profile.

+ Makes contact with the appropriate management levels and decision makers within the potential client organization to propose and secure new national account agreements.

+ Develops a program to provide the necessary solutions through the establishment of strategic business relationships and identification of key areas to be addressed which lead to the establishment of new national account agreements/contracts.

+ Develops specific boardroom-type presentations, where applicable, to professionally identify needs and solutions.

+ Maintains ongoing knowledge of industrial distribution trends through various forms of media.

+ Develops price schedules that reflect total cost to serve with desired gross margin.

+ Negotiates long-term contracts that preserve the critical areas of our base contract, ensures maximum revenue and profit from new agreements to include terms and conditions that will minimize the company’s risk.

+ Signs agreements to provide the ability to modify pricing to protect/improve margins.

+ Receives customer commitment to administer the agreement at their facilities.

+ Develops a comprehensive overview regarding all new customers to assist in the timely and successful rollout of the the company's system.

+ Provides timely information regarding the current status of the sales cycle, by assigned prospect.

+ Maintains communications with the respective District Sales Manager, Regional Vice President and field sales associates on the status of leads provided by a region.

+ Submits in a timely manner, in the required format, all reports required by company management.

+ Maintains analysis on large opportunities currently served by competition regarding agreement expiration dates, estimated spend, etc.

+ Other related projects as assigned by the Director of Strategic Accounts.



**EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:**



+ Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business or related field; in lieu of degree requirement, may accept a year-for-year education for experience trade-off.

+ Minimum of 3 years of related outside sales experience selling to major corporations.

+ Excellent sales, negotiation, relationship building and closing skills and techniques are required at $500 million+ national organizations.

+ Demonstrated successful experience with team selling and cross-functional or matrix management structures.



**SKILLS:**



+ Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to include presenting and negotiating skills.

+ Must be proficient in Microsoft Office, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.

+ Proven technical, analytical and creative competency.

+ Must possess product knowledge across a variety of MRO categories including fasteners, chemicals, electrical products, plumbing, welding, shop supplies, and industrial maintenance supplies.

+ Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with a wide range of disciplines within each customer from end user to procurement managers, financial directors, plant managers and corporate or group senior operating managers.

+ Must possess working knowledge of financial systems including balance sheets, income statements, capitalization, budgets and modeling.

+ Additional capability with inventory forecasting and management systems including pull through programs and general logistics concepts is desired.

+ Must possess the ability to design, develop and write reports, proposals and pricing requirements.

+ Must have the ability and understanding to set sales plans, make forecasts and forecast profit margin trends.



**MISCELLANEOUS:** Must have capacity to travel overnight via plane and automobile up to 60% of time.
