Job Description

Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC seeks an Associate, Desk Strategist in New York, New York

Model products and team with the front office to deliver innovative ideas using models and data visualization to analyze risks and opportunities in lending and the resulting asset portfolios, across a wide variety of securitization collateral. Create models and strategies the desk will use to drive lending decisions, analyze and manage the risk of the positions currently on the books, create pricing and marking models, communicate with traders about the models and analysis results, and creating loan management efficiency tools and business process automation, both for internal use and external clients. Interface with risk and valuation review groups to maintain certification of model documents as required by firm standards.


Requires a Master's degree in Financial Engineering, Actuarial Science, Finance, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or related field of study and two (2) years of experience in the position offered or two (2) years of experience as a Desk Strategist, Associate, Intern, Fixed Income Modeler/Analyst or a related occupation. Requires two (2) years of experience with: Microsoft office products including Microsoft Excel, VBA, and PowerPoint; quantitative analysis of financial products including risk calculation; and securitized products including products' structure, cash flow waterfalls, default risks, and prepayment risks. Requires any amount of experience with: statistical analysis including R or Matlab; and pricing of securitized products using various computerized methods. Will accept any amount of experience or undergraduate level coursework with: object oriented language including C or Java. Experience may be gained pre- or post-attainment of Bachelor's degree.
