Job Description

ResponsibilitiesReporting to the Director of MICU the staff RN is a professional care giver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via therapeutic use of self, the nursing process, the environment/instrumentation, and other health care team members. If assigned as charge nurse, will serve as resource for coordination of activities on a single unit. Responsibilities as charge nurse include, but are not limited to, assessment of unit needs and available resources for current and oncoming shift(s) based on: patient acuity, volume, individual and family needs and special clinical procedures or interventions pending. QualificationsEDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING 1.Current and valid Texas RN License. 2.Current BLS (AHA) certificate required upon hire and maintain current. 3.Completion of Critical Care Course preferred. 4.ACLS certificate within 1 year and maintain current. 5.One year as a staff RN in acute care hospital preferred. 6.Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred. 7.Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. 8.Ventilator management experience preferred. 9.Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
