Job Description

Overview

This is a position for a Student currently enrolled in an accredited Pharmacy School. It will be every other weekend (both Saturday and Sunday shifts) and one evening per week from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM.

Responsibilities

The Pharmacy Intern assists the Pharmacist in the support of the drug distribution systems, including patient counseling and pharmacokinetics calculations, and participates in performance improvement and data collections activities. These responsibilities are performed under the supervisor of a licensed Pharmacist and are activities that do not require licensure of a Pharmacist. The Pharmacy Intern is responsible for dosage preparation, preparation of sterile admixture using aseptic technique, floor stock delivery, pre-packaging, billing, receiving, and stocking. Other responsibilities include inventory control, controlled substances distribution, documentation and accountability, assisting in the inspection of medication storage areas throughout the hospital, and maintaining the cleanliness of the department. The Pharmacy Intern participates in providing pharmaceutical care for the following age groups: adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The Pharmacy Intern performs other tasks as assigned by the Pharmacist.
