Position Summary:

The Human Resources Intern will directly assist the Director of Human Resources with a wide range of projects related to HR recruiting, onboarding/orientation, training & development, administrative task, and the internship program. The internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take the skills acquired in school related topics and apply them in a professional setting. The Intern will gain a better understanding of the role that Human Resources can play in a non-profit setting and be better prepared to work in the arena of human resources. The Intern will also have the opportunity to network with programs, finance, and development staff.

The Human Resources Intern will learn the practical application of:

* Steps in the recruiting and hiring process, including: posting job openings, reviewing resumes, conducting telephone and in-person interviews, and making job offers.
* Submission of background checks for various grants and states departments.
* The importance of employment law and compliance, especially regarding employment eligibility, confidentiality, proper maintenance of employee files, and forms management.
* Employee benefit administration issues related to open enrollment, benefit enrollment and termination, troubleshooting employee benefit issues, and the customer service aspect of benefit oversight.
* Implementation of a successful onboarding and new employee welcome.
* Development and implementation of Leadership Training Program, Employee Appreciation Programs, Wellness Program, and more.


* High School or College graduate.
* Current or recent enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program with an interest and aptitude to work in Human Resources, or non-profit management/administrative fields;
* Ability to prioritize tasks and handle numerous assignments simultaneously;
* Proficient in Microsoft Office and internet applications;
* Member of SHRM is a plus.

Intern Benefits

This internship will allow the intern to bring their classroom knowledge or work experience into a professional work setting and broaden their knowledge through hands-on application in a non-profit environment.

* For students, you may receive school credit, depending on the requirements.
* Intern will have an opportunity to hone in on human resources skills in the non-profit arena and will receive professional feedback on work.
