Position Details:

The Brush Square Museums Foundation (http://www.brushsquaremuseums.org/) is recruiting a summer intern to research local individuals or organizations who might assist the board's "Make our Baby Grand Again" campaign to raise money to restore the piano used by the wife of O. Henry (William S. Porter) the famous short-story writer who lived in Austin. BSMF is the primary nonprofit citizen group advocating for the restoration and preservation of the O. Henry Museum and Susanna Dickinson Museum in Brush Square.

The preferred person for this position should be interested in meeting Austin leaders, fundraising, and music. Additional participation or experience with development campaigns or social networking would be helpful.

It is anticipated that the intern will commit to 5 hours a week at their own pace (40 hours total) until September 1)to create a database with profiles of Austin individuals or musical groups who could be approached to donate to the "make our baby grand again" campaign or 2) support a fundraising piano concert. The intern will gain valuable experience doing social networking in Austin. They will be assisted by board members and museum staff to move the project forward. The development intern will receive an honorarium of $150.

Intern will be asked to attend BSMF board meetings, usually on a Saturday morning.
