Milliman's Boise, Idaho, Employee Benefits Practice has an opening for a part-time analyst (20 hours per week) to work with actuarial consultants to prepare actuarial valuations of pension and retiree health plan liabilities for multiemployer, corporate, and public pension plans, perform analyses of gains and losses, and plan design studies. Position may also include analyzing and projecting health care claims, pricing health and welfare plan benefit options, analyzing healthcare provider proposals and renewals, drafting employee communications, and communicating results to clients.

You will:

* Process and organize data for actuarial valuation of pension and retiree health plans
* Assist with setup and programming of actuarial valuations
* Update / develop new and existing Excel workbooks
* Assist with electronic file management and documentation
* Assist with government filing preparation
* Prepare benefit calculations
* Draft plan amendments and member communications
* Draft Summary Plan Descriptions and plan documents
* Prepare budget projections
* Calculate employer/employee contribution rates, retiree rates, COBRA rates, imputed income rates, and IBNR estimates
* Prepare cost estimates for various benefit options
* Analyze vendor renewals
* Review vendor contracts
* Prepare ad hoc reporting as needed



* Bachelors in Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or related field
* Up to three years of experience
* Experience with Proval valuation software is preferred
* Completion of one or more Society of Actuaries exams is a plus
* Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Microsoft Excel and Word
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Excellent quantitative, analytical, and problem solving skills
* Strong technical ability and organizational skills
* Attention to detail


* High degree of self-motivation
* GPA 3.5+
