Coal Operations Manager - Flexible Work Environment with 75 Year Company - Reading, PA

The Basics

Mid-Continent Coal and Coke Company is looking for a new coal operations manager to join our team for our Eastern Pennsylvania territory. We need someone to manage all aspects of our coal operations in Eastern PA. This person will have complete control over how they conduct their job and have the ability to develop new relationships for our company.

Our coal operations in the Eastern PA market have recently picked up significantly. We're in need of someone who is ready to run their own region of a strong company to help us keep up with demand. This isn't just an operations position for us. This is the person out in the field, meeting face to face with our customers and vendors. We need to have this person make a great impression, build relationships and make sure our customers are getting the top quality products they've come to expect from us.

What Will You Be Doing?

- Manage MCC owned coal stockpiles at producer coal mines

- Ensure producers are meeting our requirements as stated per agreements

- Ensure our stockpiles are held in place until distributed as directed by MCC

- Manage logistics from MCC owned coal mine stock piles

- Manage Truck and Rail movement from stockpiles to direct customers

- Manage Truck and Rail movement from stockpiles to downstream inventory locations

- Coordinate coal movement to build barges based on customer and supplier need

- Improve reliability, dependability and accountability of timely product movement

- Networking with all area truck, rail and other logistics companies

- Ensure MCC is exposed to all area truckers to improve competitive environment

- Explore potential benefits of using a freight/logistics company

- Gain knowledge of all available loading, trans loading and storage points

- Secure effective and efficient route quotes.

- Build relationships with customers and vendors to secure reputation in the market

- Assist in local customer visits filling a customer (technical) services need developing customer relationships.

- Develop close relationships with key contacts at the coal mines gathering intelligence and competitor information

- Review potential alternatives to our present distribution network

- Position will report to and work closely with the Territory Manager on objectives

What do we think would make you successful in this role?

- Experience in the coal, coke, anthracite or similar industry

- Some College or equivalent leadership experience
