Job Description

Athena is a new initiative under Startup Business Group which is chartered with creating unique sets of experiences for Students, teachers and education administrators and show the value of integrated Microsoft story for Education. To that end, Microsoft PowerPoint and Athena team are collaborating to get some of the core scenarios integrated natively within PowerPoint.

For this, we are looking for a strong and motivated developer to help build features and services that will bring the interactive classroom experience to anyone, on any device, at any time.   As a talented developer on the team you will be responsible for designing, building the core features in PowerPoint, and running vital services.

You will work closely with other disciplines like Program Management, Testing and Researchers to take ideas from conception to design to implementation to testing and to releasing. You will be exposed to a wide variety of latest technologies and you are expected to master them.   You will also be expected to provide thought leadership on the engineering and technical side to help us build and deliver the complex systems required to manage and support a powerful education service at global scale - these include testing in production, synthetic and real user monitoring, flighting and experimentation.   You will work with partners across Microsoft, on a mission to deliver innovative solutions that incorporate key assets of PowerPoint to change the future of education.  

Basic Qualifications:

A solid computer science background (B.S. or equivalent degree)

2+ years software development skills with fluency in C# or C++

Experience with JavaScript, CSS, ASP.Net, mobile app development a plus

Solid skills in design, debugging and problem solving

Effective communication skills
