Job Description

Microsemi is a premier supplier of high value-add semiconductor, system and services for the enterprise, data center and telecom markets. Microsemi products enable customers to build secure, reliable and low power systems that can meet stringent requirements of next generation communication networks. The Microsemi Communications Products Group is in search of a Firmware Engineer in Austin, TX. The candidate will be developing new products and maintaining existing products targeting various Audio processing markets. The candidate must be familiar with fluent in the "C" programming language and exposed to using it in embedded systems. Understand and exposure to Firmware design and development in both bare metal designs and RTOS based systems is expected. Exposure to DSP programming techniques, and converting Matlab models into fixed point C is highly desired, as is converting "C": into assembly, and optimization techniques. Essential duties: Working with the Software development team to implement new algorithms for new features and to solve specific product requests. Software design based off from requirement specifications. Creation of test plans to verify algorithms and features. Writing design and customer documentation.


Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science. Undergraduate class work involving embedded systems, "C" programming, scripting languages, and software design. Competent with the C programming language is required and familiarity with its use in embedded systems. Experience with TCL/Tk or Python scripting language preferred. Exposure to DSP programming Techniques is desirable. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
