Job Description

Under close professional supervision and following prescribed procedures, prepares medications for delivery from the pharmacy to patient care areas. Assists with the delivery of these medications and maintains records related to their dispensing. Under supervision, may dispense medication and provide drug information to other health care professionals.

Education Minimum:

Must maintain current enrollment in the professional division of an accredited college of Pharmacy. Registration with the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Intern.

Experience Desirable:

Previous experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy environment preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities:

Demonstrates knowledge and proficiency in CRT operations.

Demonstrates written and spoken communication skills with patients and ancillary staff.

Registration, Certification or Licensure Requirement:

Mandatory: Licensure as a Pharmacy Intern in the state of Ohio

General/Specific Orientation:

Orientation to provide understanding of existing hospital and departmental policies and procedures, as well as specific orientation to Nursing units, staff, policies and procedures. Also, orientation to the core values of the Mercy Health Partners

Contingent position to cover weekends and shifts when not in school. Pharmacy Interns are responsible for tasks of a certified technician but have a better understanding of medications as they are in College of Pharmacy. Staff when available to cover open shifts. Often given more leeway in training to become a Pharmacist.
